There are no public comments on non-agenda items, so the board moves to associations commentary. The president of SDCOE's CSEA chapter is up first, followed by the president of the San Diego County Association of Educators.

The presenter who was going to take the board through "Charter Petition Appeals Post-AB 1505: County & SBE Roles, and Impact of Recent Appeal Decisions" is ill, so the item will be heard next month.

The board is hearing an overview of the youth development and leadership opportunities offered through SDCOE. Sal Garcia is focusing on @SanDiegoFNL, a program that focuses on youth leadership and equipping young people to live healthy lives.

More than 2,000 high school students from across the county connected with reps from 30+ historically Black colleges and universities, as well as UC and Cal State schools, at the 6th annual San Diego Black College Expo last month.
